Let your phone do the thinking

I’m probably behind in discovering this app (two years it seems). I thought it was a good idea until I found out what it could really do. Bring stalkers, paedophiles and other scary human beings to your door.

Wikitude. Available on iOS, Android, Blackberry 6 & 7 and Windows Phone 7. (This not a promotion). The app claims to augment reality.

“Once you look at it, augmented reality will automatically give you information about the structure,” it’s been claimed. Something like a city guide telling you all the names and history of buildings, businesses, etc. For example, the picture of the Golden Gate bridge below. For tourist who doesn’t know it, they’ll just go to their app and point their camera to it. And it’ll identify the bridge and give you information from Wikipedia.
